Hi,

I´m Beate Haunstrup Thomsen and 29. Despite I was born in Denmark, I have always been living in Germany in a small town called Leck -just across the border to Denmark. The german region has a danish minority,so I went to a danish Kinder-garten and school in Germany, where I was tought both Danish and German.

I went to "Duborg-skolen" highschool in Flensburg and after graduating I went out into the wild world...to the other side - Australia! I was working as a nanny in Melbourne for 9 month. Since then I've been addicted to travelling...

Coming home and getting use to the european way of life, I started studying English and Spanish to become a translator at "Århus School of Business School" in Denmark. The studying was okay, but it wasn't quite that what I wanted. Though I like languages and to communicate in many languages, I needed more creativity and challenges in my life...

The Big Trip

On the ferry heading towards Belém, I met two Americans, and we agreed to stick togetber for a while. Next stop was Saö Louis, a beautiful colonial little town a bit further down the Eastcoast. We stayed there for a couple of days and left for Recife after that. Unfortunately it was the wrong timing concerning carneval, bcause Recife has got the biggest in Brazil apart from Rio.

Now it was time for some African&Reggae Vibrationes. Salvador was the right place to visit. You could really feel the African Vibes in the air. Drums and reggae music everywhere...

Lacking to experience the inland I took a very long busride from Salvador to a dry and poor part of the country - There I visited a friend, he showed me a Mangofarm and very poor parts of the vast country.

Next destination was Rio was on the list nowI met up with one of the Americans and we shared a flat at Copacabana. All in all we spent a week there. That minimum time for a city like Rio. It's a beautiful city surrounded with green hills and plateau. I found Copacabana a bit dissapointing...I've seen other baches that are much more beautiful...
